Grant leads one of the largest police services in Australia with over 5,000 staff and He has been a calm, steady presence over the past few years as State Coordinator for COVID-19, which has been one of the most significant challenges our state has faced in recent history.

With 36 years of general and specialist policing experience and over a decade as a member of SAPOL’s senior executive, Grant has personally led and delivered some of SAPOL’s most significant programs. Top of his agenda at the moment is improving employee wellbeing, gender equity and the elimination of discrimination and harassment in the workplace.

Grant Stevens is the Commissioner of the South Australian Police and the State Coordinator for the COVID-19 pandemic in South Australia.

Stevens began his career with the South Australian Police Force in 1986. Throughout his career, he has been involved in a number of high-profile programs. He has worked in counter-terrorism, community programs, drug and alcohol management, and human resource management.

Since 2004, he has led the police response to child sexual abuse and domestic violence in the community.
